Brain Gym for
Special Education Providers Seminar
Description: This
course will provide an in-depth study of how to use Brain Gym with
children and adults who have special needs. Therapists, teachers, and
parents lean how to assess the needs of an individual
who may have difficulty communicating, develop a Brain
Gym program to meet those needs, evaluate the effectiveness
of the program and how to modify the program when
necessary, for maximum results.
The course provides excellent applications for a variety of mental
and physical challenges, including: autism, cerebral palsy, attention
deficit hyperactive disorder, Angelman's Syndrome, speech impairment,
brain injuries, deafness and impairments caused by strokes.
Students will learn the 26 Brain Gym movements and
modifications for use in special cases. Dennison Laterality Repatterning
and the 5-step Edu-K balancing process will also be taught. These easy
to do, patterned activities target certain brain functions to promote
optimal learning, communication, movement and creativity.
The typical introductory Brain Gym class is three days long. In
this course, a fourth day is added to ensure that participants have
the knowlege needed to modify the Brain Gym program for optimal effectiveness
with the special needs population. Emphasis is given to three dimensions
of the brain with each dimension having assigned to it specific brain
gym movements.
Woven into this entry-level Brain Gym course is an
opportunity to observe Cecilia (Freeman) Koester working directly with
special needs children. This course has been developed by Cecilia for
Brain Gym International and she is presently the only instructor registered
to teach this specialized course. However, Cecilia is currently working
with Brain Gym International to develop a curriculum designed to teach
other instructors how to teach Brain Gym for the special needs population.
Cecilia has studied at length with the founders of Brain Gym, Dr. Paul
and Gail Dennison, to deepen her understanding of this simple and effective
tool for brain integration. She invites you to share in this understanding
and to empower yourself to assist others in their life's journey.

Description: This course offers

Description: Generally
1 and 1/2 hours long the child (or adult) is provided with an informal
assessment by Cece that will offer an in-depth understanding of how
the neurological system is operating. Functional, practical insights
are provided that translate into remarkable progress.
The parent/caregiver/therapist/consultant walks away
with a "program" that will enhance the continued progress
of the child/adult. The suggested activiites, to be done daily, generally
take 12-21 minutes per day. Often other professionals use Cece's skills
by consulting with her when they need further insights into the work
they are doing with a child/adult.
On-going consultations with Cece are suggested once every
3-4 weeks until the goals and sense of well-being within the child/adult
are reached. More frequent consultations are available though Cece's
emphasis is on empowering the child/adult and his/her parents/therapists
so they can do the suggested activities at home, thereby using Cece's
skills and abilities as guidance and inspiration.

Description: Once
a person has attended a workshop taught by Cecilia (Freeman) Koester,
he/she can consult with Cece on the phone for further information,
clarification and/or to further develop a program for a child/adult.
Numerous people have sent Cece a video to assist in the development
of a Brain Gym "program" for a child who has special needs.
After Cece views the video, a phone consultation offers refinement
of information for the parent or professional and a series of movements
and activities is developed that will further enhance the child's progress.
